It all began in Pinelands. When I arrived at the house Debbie was getting dressed at, I was completely stunned by how beautiful she looked. While I was snapping away, Sanja was at Bishops getting some shots of the groom and best men in the picturesque grounds.

 

After a memorable ceremony, the whole bridal procession, including ourselves, made our way down to Llandudno beach for some fun in the sun with some of our props. Although there were a ridiculous amount of people on the beach, we managed to get some cute pics of everyone without a random popping up in the background.

We made our way up to Suikerbossie for the reception afterwards where we had some good times with a photo booth and some more props. Check out the pics below.

 It’s crazy to think how quickly January 2012 has come and gone… Yet it feels like the Summer has just begun and hints of hearts are popping up at every turn…

It was a beautiful November Sunday when For Life photography spent a few hours “back at the ranch” with Tamryn and her stunning family. I absolutely loved shooting this one, (what photographer wouldn’t!) with the incredible Cape Town backdrop, bright smiles and gorgeous blue eyes occupying the frame!

Tam sent me a few words of her experience of the shoot, here’s what she says…

Thank you so much for taking the time to come out to the farm (free of charge I might add!) and make the day such a lovely one. It was such luck to have randomly found For Life’s website on Google. Straight off the bat from the first email I felt like I was speaking to a friend I had known for years.  Sanja was so quick to respond and was extremely willing to put together a package specifically for my needs.

Her and her 2 assistants, Jamie and Justin, really put myself, mom and even the dogs!! at ease, I’m sure we weren’t the best of subjects, being all awkward and such in the beginning… But with some creativity from Sanja we were soon having so much fun that we forgot photos were even being taken!

Sanja really spent a lot of time with us and snapped away TONS of pics. I’ve only seen a few of the pics so far and I am so impressed. She really did “capture the memory” and I cant wait to see the rest. I will be sure to make more comments once I’ve seen the coffee table book that is being put together by Sanja herself as well.

I told Sanja that I will now be finding all kinds of excuses to have her come and take some snaps. Her and Natalie have really got a thriving business going.  And with all the professional photographers out there, I feel that they truly do stand out, from the photos to the service. I cant wait for more photos! A huge thanks once again to Sanja and her team”

Love is easily spotted from a mile away. Canadian born Mark and Zimbabwean Michelle met in Cape Town and fell in love instantly. They chose to have their wedding reception at Buitenverwachting Wine Farm with their closest friends and family.

Nat and I got to business as soon as the glistening Hummer arrived with the bride and groom. Mark (a charming mining magnate) and Michelle (an exquisite African beauty) eased onto the rolled out red carpet. Michelle’s blue satin dress was a sight for sore eyes – Mark couldn’t take his off of her! An afternoon of bubbly and delicacies at Buitenverwachting Restaurant and a leisurely stroll in the vineyard, the afternoon was absolute perfection.

Congratulations, Mark and Michelle…see you in Cape Town soon ♥

We met this beautiful couple long before their wedding at a Wedding Expo at Zevenwacht. Not only is Elizna photogenic and knows exactly what her best angle is, she’s a lovely, fun and bubbly person. It’s no surprise the camera just loved her.

The wedding was held in the Kirstenbosch Gardens at the base of Table Mountain. It was a picnic wedding comprising of lots of bubbles, strawberries and cream, delicious cheese, wine and decadent chocolate cupcakes.

We had lots of fun with the bride and groom shoot, using an empty white-washed frame to frame the ‘just married’ couple.

If these little faces don’t bring a smile to your face, I don’t know what will. Sanja and I both arrived at Janine’s house to be greeted by these three beautiful little flower girls excitedly prancing around in their dresses. After capturing some cute shots of them, we found Janine quietly getting dressed in her bedroom. You’d never have said she was getting married in a few hours!

After a beautiful church ceremony, we made our way to the cake table, followed by a photoshoot with the bride and groom at the Company Gardens in Cape Town. Apart from being hassled by a street beggar (or as we say, bergie) for the most part of our shoot, the couple thoroughly enjoyed posing for us and we managed to get some beautiful lens flare in some of the photos.

Next up was the reception in Greenpoint. We made our way there in a long line of cars hooting like a crazy wedding entourage throughout the streets! The reception was beautiful. Fairy lights on the trees, white draping, beautiful flowers on the tables and lots of happy faces.

It was a hot, muggy afternoon when we approached the Westcliff. The first thought that came to mind was, “Have we just arrived at the Mount Nelson in Cape Town?” The whole of the Westcliff in Johannesburg is the same pinky orange surreal wonderland. It’s no wonder they both belong to the Orient-express hotel group.

After capturing some beautiful décor shots in the reception venue at the Westcliff, we were transported up the pretty cobbled streets via shuttle to the bride’s room where we documented her last minutes as a singleton!

The wedding ceremony was beautiful, and many tears were shed.  After which everyone participated in lighting large paper lanterns. But instead of taking to the skies immediately, the lanterns hovered dangerously low to the ground, flying towards people, narrowly missing the bride’s dress, and swooping only centimetres above an oblivious grandfather’s head.

Luckily we didn’t manage to burn down the Westcliff, and everyone made it out alive, partying the night away in true European style.

During the week leading up to the photoshoot, both sisters and I were extremely excited about getting our photos taken by professionals at an amazing location (with our hair and make-up also done professionally). We packed, un-packed and re-packed our clothes in order to have the perfect outfits. When the day finally came, the hair and make-up artist arrived at our house to make us all glamorous for our time to shine.

We drove to the Big Bay beach where we were greeted by our amazing photographers, who introduced themselves as Sanja and Natalie. We got down to business and started off the shoot in our bikinis. We then proceeded to wear jeans, flowing dresses and my younger sister’s favourite item of clothing, her Barcelona football shirt. We were noticed by people passing by who wondered what was happening. Others who had already figured it out, cast us envious glances as our amazing photographers took brilliant pictures that we will treasure as precious memories. We are entirely grateful to For Life photography who made this possible for us.

With sunny Blouberg Beach as a stunning Cape Town backdrop and three exquisite sisters in the frame, our Ceres family portrait shoot was a magnificent success, naturally.

Angelica, Claudia and Rosalia Mendes enjoyed a fun day on the beach chasing seagulls and frolicking in the waves! It was a challenge defying the mighty Cape Town wind and the bright sunshine….but despite these unavoidable forces of nature, the camera absolutely loved them! Claude was whisked away from work on Wednesday afternoon, dressed as a bride, and taken to the Mount Nelson for her hen’s party.  It was a beautiful morning, despite the strong winds! But the delicious teas, cakes, scones, tarts, salmon, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches made up for it.
